The World Bank selected RKA after an intense bidding competition by top design firms to undertake a challenging adaptive reuse project: converting the timeworn, one-time Hindustan Times newspaper printing press into an international standard office.

The original premises, featuring double-height printing press machinery, required comprehensive architectural redesigning to accommodate modern office operations while meeting international standards.

The project demonstrates exemplary adaptive reuse architecture, preserving industrial heritage while creating contemporary office functionality.

The facade redesign provides a contemporary aesthetic appropriate to the building’s new institutional purpose while respecting its structural integrity.

The interior fit outs achieved LEED Gold Rating, reflecting sophisticated strategies in energy efficiency, water conservation, indoor environmental quality, and sustainable material selection.

This achievement underscores how adaptive reuse of obsolete industrial buildings—preserving embodied carbon and cultural significance—can align with contemporary sustainability frameworks, creating efficient, healthy workspaces that honor architectural heritage while meeting rigorous international performance standards
